Currency Formatting
If you type a number into a cell in Excel, it'll just show that number. So, 25 is 25. $25 is $25. But sometimes you want those numbers to display as currency with the dollar sign and cents showing, too. Or you’ve already copied in unformatted numbers and now want them to have the same currency format.
To do this, highlight the cell(s) you want formatted this way, and then go to the Number section of the Home tab, and click on the $ sign.
Another option is to highlight the cells you want formatted that way, go to the Number section of the Home tab, and use the dropdown to choose either Currency or Accounting.
You can also highlight the cell(s), right-click, choose the Format Cells option, go to the Number tab, and choose either Currency or Accounting from there.
